Hate Story 4 Movie Review:
There are bad films, poor films, and pathetic films and then there’s Hate Story 4. Now a full-fledged franchise thanks to the box-office success of the previous 3 installments, Vishal Pandya once again makes the audiences sit through the torture for the 3rd time in this Urvashi Rautela starrer. This time the events unfold in England, probably to make the Britishers suffer this time.
There is absolutely nothing to talk about in particular. A wafer-thin story stretched to a torture of more than 120 minutes. Tasha (Urvashi Rautela) becomes the face of a luxury brand run by Khurrana brothers Aryan (Vivan Bhatena) and Rajveer (Karan Wahi) while their father Vikram (Gulshan Grover) prepares to run for the mayoral elections.
While other films try to build on a story and then go into action mode, Hate Story 4 throws you into right into the mix and you are forced to scratch your head over what the hell is going on. The acting is downright bad and Urvashi Rautela must be singled out in particular as she is the one leading this installment. She tries really hard to cry but the results on screen are disastrous while Karan Wahi, Vivan Bhatena, Ihana Dhillon and Gulshan Grover seem to be reading the dialogues from a teleprompter.
It seems peculiar why the makers would decide to release a film right after Women’s Day which treats its actresses nothing less than playful objects and eye candies. The success of the franchise lies in the skin show and steamy sex scenes which the Hate Story films are always full of and this time too, these scenes make you squirm in your seat.
The only good thing about the film is that everything in it is so bad that all the scenes- emotional, confrontational, romantic or action generate huge amounts of unintentional laughter and that is according to me the only way to come out alive of this excruciating film. The dialogues deserve to be applauded in particular and Milap Zaveri seems to be a master at writing all the cheap, dirty and misogynistic dialogues. It just makes you think why things like these aren’t banned by the censor board.
Hate Story 4 is a terrible film and if there was an Oscar for bad films & acting, it would win in all the categories. The film has dialogues which will make you cringe even in your dreams and it would be a long time before you can forget the torture that was inflicted upon you.
